Kanaris Tsinganos

Kanaris Tsinganos is Professor of Astrophysics at the Dept. of Physics, University of Athens and the Director of the National Observatory of Athens (NOA). PhD by the Un. of Chicago, Lecturer at Un. of Chicago, Harvard Univ., Katholieke Univ. Leuven, St Andrews Univ., Un. of Porto, frequent visitor and research collaboratot at Observatoire de Paris and Osservatorio Astronomico di Torino. Organizer of many international conferences, e.g., Solar and Astrophysical MHD Flows (1995), Solar Orbiter Workshop (2006), Protostellar Jets in Context (2008) and Editor of several conference proceedings books. Participates in several active research collaborations abroad. PI in several national and EU funded research grants and networks. Invited panel member for evaluation of the EU/Ideas/ERC Advanced Grants and evaluator of Marie Curie European postdoctoral Fellowships, etc. His more than 220 publications have received several thousands of citations (Hirsch index h = 28). Elected president of the Hellenic Astronomical Society, national representative in ESA’s Science Programm Committee, Member of National Advisory Council for Research and Technology, Greek PI to Coronagraph Control Board in ESA's PROBA 3 mission, PI of the ESA project at NOA, Hubble Catalogue of variables, etc. Signed on behalf of NOA with prof. Volker Liebig, ESA/ESRIN Director, an agreement for the first Sentinels mirror site at NOA, on 10/5/2014.
