Stylianos Kazadzis

Dr. Stylianos Kazadzis (SK) was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1971. He received his B.Sc. in Physics, M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences and Ph.D. in Atmospheric Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 1994, 1996 and 2000, respectively. Worked as Post Doctoral fellow at Univ. of Thessaloniki (2000-2007) and as a Marie Curie Fellow at the Finnish Meteorological Institute – Helsinki, Finland (2008-2009). Employed at the National Observatory of Athens (ΝΟΑ) in 2009 as an Associate researcher at the Institute for Environmental Research and Sustainable Development (IERSD). In 2014 SK is has been promoted in the Senior researcher position. Since April 2015 SK has the position of the leader of the World Aerosol Optical depth research and Calibration Center at the Physikalisch-Meteorologisches Observatorium Davos, World Radiation Center, Switzerland.
His main scientific interests include solar radiation measurements and effects, physical, optical and chemical properties of aerosols with expertise in surface based and satellite remote sensing techniques and methodologies. He has participated in more than 22 EU and national research projects in 6 of which as coordinator or principal investigator. SK has about 72 publications in peer reviewed scientific journals (and >120 in conference proceedings) and his work has received more than 1300 citations from third-party (h-index = 23). SK has supervised or been a member of the supervising committee of 5 PhD and 3 MSc students. He is among others member of the editorial board of EGU’s Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics Journal (Copernicus Publications, Impact Factor: 5.6) and has been an active reviewer in 17 scientific journals.
